We started the financial year in September ‘24 with a healthy £4345 but unfortunately made a loss of over £700 on the Christmas term and concert. We had 25 subs and 39 in the audience. Unbeknown to us, there was a Christmas sing-along the day afterwards and we felt that this accounted partly for the reduced audience. Katie’s delicious meal after the event made £290 so made up somewhat for the loss. Thank you, Katie!
Our Easter concert was exciting with 4 soloists as well as Richard on the organ. We attracted a few more singers but our audience was 39 again, which was very disappointing. As a result, our loss over the term would have been almost £1500. However, in March we held a tabletop sale in the village Hall which raised around £570 overall and involved people from outside the choir. Thank you, those who took part, either by renting a table or coming to buy. Finally we held a workshop in June open to anyone. The subs pretty much covered the expenses of the day, and we made a welcome profit of over £300 on the super meal afterwards which many people contributed to. So you can see how invaluable our fund-raising efforts are. We raised around £1160 altogether to keep the choir with an essential cushion of money. It would be great if we could attract more singers to join the choir or increase our audience One important income we had was £417 from gift aid on subs. If you pay tax and haven’t yet signed one of our forms to allow us to have 25% tax back on your subs, please see me or Ian Smith who is taking over. So to summarise my last Treasurer’s report, the bank balance has fluctuated over the year but with the fundraising we’ve done it has never felt too worrying. We ended the year with £3690. |
