Easter concert 2025

On Friday 4th April in Brixworth Church (NN6 9BZ) we sang two works:
Stanford    "Stabat Mater"
Haydn       "Harmonie Mass"

The Haydn was well within our comfort zone, and completed by the four fantastic soloists. With the Stanford, a little known piece, Ian found something to push our boundaries a little - hard work, but rewarding to perform.

Here is what Ian said to us afterwards -

"Thank you everyone for your great efforts in realising what was such a challenging programme on the night. I do hope you enjoyed the pieces: The Haydn, such a joyous, upbeat work, and the Stanford, what a revelation! I think you perhaps know now why I wanted us to perform it, a work of such great intensity, and a sincerity in its emotional content, quite unlike other pieces of his…it really should be better known!

"Well done, you sang with great spirit in the Haydn, and real commitment in the Stanford. That amazing ending was especially beatific, one of our audience commented that it was very ‘consoling’! Good word! Of course the programme was also adorned with a fine line-up of soloists, they were so easy to work with, and all real ‘pros’! Not forgetting Richard, who again did us proud, of course."
