Winter 2025

Picture
On Friday 28th November, 7.30 pm, in Rothwell Church (NN14 6BQ) we shall sing Mendelssohn's oratorio "Saint Paul".

The work tells, in sung form, the story of St Paul and his progression from a fierce persecutor of early christians to one of their most effective communicators. Though not so often performed now, it is full of what makes Mendelssohn's music so attractive, and in his lifetime it was very popular.

The work includes parts for three soloists, for which the choir will be joined by professional singers.

In a break with our previous custom, we are singing this not as a Christmas concert, with carols, but as a stand-alone work in November.

Rehearsals are every Thursday at 7.30pm in Old village hall, starting 4 September.
