Rehearsals week by week
9/1/25
Music for the Haydn mass given out, sang through all the movements.
16/1/25
Haydn
General note: Most of the dynamic (loudness) markings - f, p, cresc, dim, etc. - are not by Haydn himself, but by the editor, and are much too fussy. Ignore them. Ian will tell us what he actually wants.
Sang I, Kyrie.
Note: For "eleison" the "lei" part is often written as two separate syllables le-i on two separate notes. Don't sing it that way. Instead, sing it on a single syllable like English "lay", slurring separate notes together if necessary.
Sang II, Gloria.
23/1/25
Haydn
Sang II, Gloria from figure O, and III, Credo.
30/1/25 If you are able to print out a copy of the Stanford (3 pdf files, links given near the top of this page), please bring it.
